Have you ever wondered, "Should I attend a function
sponsored by the ACA?" I am a member but can I take the
time out of my busy day to go to a luncheon, attend one
of the educational seminars such as the mock trial or
attend the convention? Then take a look at photos from 2009.
Most of our readers know the history of this great organization but there may be
some who may not so we are taking the liberty of reminding some and educating
others about ACA. The Atlanta Claims Association (ACA), a non-profit organization, was formed in the fall of 1923, with the first meeting being held in the Capital City Club of Atlanta.
The ACA is now the largest claims association in Georgia,
with members not only throughout Georgia, but outside
the state as well. We conduct educational seminars and
help guide members new to the claims community, as
well as providing our members the opportunity for fellowship.
We have monthly luncheon meetings the first Thursday of every month from September to June, with 3 seminars a year, including Ethics training. ACA's Annual Convention, usually held in April from Wednesday night through Friday, is, if not the largest such event in the Southeastern United States, certainly among the largest. Our newsletter, A Claimscene, reaches over 1100 readers each month.
In addition to the above, ACA has expanded the educational component by offering Seminars on Demand for companies at their premises. The Workers' Compensation program has been in place for a while and we have now launched the General Liability On Demand Program this year. This service offers you free on-site CE credit training for your claims staff.
This is a great organization to meet people in the industry, increase your industry knowledge and have fun all at the same time. If you know of someone who may be thinking about joining but has not, you may want to share this newsletter with them and consider bringing them to one of our luncheons. They can inquire about membership by contacting Lis Eckles, our membership chair or by visiting our website at www.atlantaclaims.com.
